European Outdoor Award: Mountain Equipment Xenith I

Silver Winner In The Category Cycling & Bikepacking

The Mountain Equipment Xenith I is an ultra-lightweight sleeping bag designed for those who want to go light and fast, pushing their own boundaries. Hexwave baffle construction offers a unique solution to improve loft and down control with fewer cold spots.

Despite being lightweight the Xenith is a well thought out and fully featured sleeping bag with a well constructed DC5 baffle hood and Trapezium 4 panel footpiece. Ultrasonically cleaned 950+FP Muscovy Down with hydrophobic treatment and tough 10 denier fabrics make this a reliable lightweight sleeping bag, designed for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts who require maximum down insulation at the smallest possible packed size. Xenith bags are available in four models ranging from 2° C to -11° C (Comfort Limit acc. ISO 23537).

What convinced the jury:

Hexwave Baffle for Even Warmth:
The unique Hexwave baffle structure prevents down clustering and ensures consistent insulation across the entire sleeping bag surface.

950+FP Muscovy Down:
Ultrasonic Muscovy Down with 950+ fill power and hydrophobic treatment delivers an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio and remains effective across multiple nights.

DC5 Hood & Trapezium 4 Footbox:
Specially engineered hood and footbox eliminate cold spots through construction without compromising weight or packed size.

Jury Statement:

A good night’s sleep is essential on multi-day missions on the bike or in the mountains. This sleeping bag offers comfort for those who want to go light and fast, featuring a unique hexagonal baffle construction keeping the down evenly distributed. The down won’t shift as much from the top to the lower shoulder for side sleepers, allowing better heat retention and a cosier rest.
